I'm an amateur herpetologist based in Gauteng, South Africa, where everything interesting is never too far away, yet rarely right on my doorstep. I have a particular interest in Africa's lesser-known reptiles and amphibians, especially their taxonomy, population genetics, and biogeography. Over the years, I have developed a fascination with how species diversify and evolve across landscapes. Field herpetology remains one of my favourite aspects of the hobby, whether searching for species close to home or exploring new areas.

Liam Botha is a passionate wildlife enthusiast based in Pretoria. As a wildlife photographer, he has traveled extensively to capture the natural beauty of South Africa through the lens of a camera.
From a young age, Liam has been collecting insects and other wildlife, a lifelong passion that has only grown stronger with time. He has expanded his knowledge significantly by doing the beginner and later advanced snake identification course. At an age of 12 he did the venomous snake handling course leading to the reptile photography course and at 14 the venomous snake handling bootcamp. He also has an incredible eye for wildlife art and has done many pieces illustrating the beauty of reptiles, plants, amphibians, birds and mammals.
